Two weeks ago I posted in my blog that I wanted to have a meeting to discuss Touch the Sun in Toronto, with the hopes of creating a council here before I continue on to the coast...and no one came.

I was told later that if I'd have called it a bbq and perhaps even given away some beer, I'd of had people come...and this is probably true, but this is not the intent of Touch the Sun and I won't dangle carrots and offer rewards as a means to the end--creating and establishing the network. People need to learn to do things because it needs to be done NOT for the rewards that come attached.

I see both perspectives in this situation and I've discussed this situation in the past. All humans receive ideas--whether from under the post-modern ceiling, or from outside the cave--and art is the communication of those ideas to the larger community. Do we get caught up in mimesis--the repetition and recycling of ideas or are we able to receive an original idea and bring it to life? Of course, I believe anyone can receive Truth but the trick comes in discerning Truth from the ideas of others.

So what is this idea called community? It is only a word. How one interprets the meaning will be implicit in his or her actions, where he or she spends their time, and in the groups he or she joins. As we walk our path we undoubtedly encounter many ideas along the way but, do we blindly accept the ideas of others or do we trust our own counsel based on the wisdom of our own experience?

I see that the idea of community has been distilled mainly into celebration and people gather in the name of community for the purposes of celebrating--but, what is being celebrated? Traditionally, these festivals marked cycles in accordance with nature's cycles and the community celebrated.

Both Burning Man and Earthdance take place in the Fall (considering the Fall technically begins with Lugh and runs until Samhain), which is the Harvest season but, what exactly do these festivals have to do with Harvest and reaping? Thanksgiving is more appropriate to this time--the idea and not what we celebrate (thank you God for giving us this land to rape, run amok and slaughter the original inhabitants. We can appear to break free from Mother England and trick everyone into thinking we are free and this is the land of opportunity). Burning Man is clearly based on Carnival and represents new beginnings--more appropriately a spring festival? The Fall festivals mark an ending to a hard year of working together--it is a time of accumulation in preparation for the long winter--think Squirrel.

I see community differently than branding the idea of community into a dance party but I also do not discount it because the people in attendance all agree that this is what community is and they are there to support the idea that is being sold to them--and as they continue on their path, either their definition will change with their experience, or they will continue to drink Soma and be tricked into synthetic rapture.

I would have to say that I agree with you. There are light workers everywhere -- not only in a few iconic figures.

I believe that the growing awareness of spirit throughout the world may be rooted in higher vibrations; and, as such, I agree that a unified event such as Earthdance may help to raise the presence of light worldwide.

In addition, it was during an Earthdance that I became aware of my lightworking abilities. Perhaps more people will have similar experiences and the experience of light will expand exponentially through people and time.

This is my hope.
